The Compere for the evening will be Mr ‘Pieman’ himself Wayne Shaw.

Franny will share stories of his career and of his charitable exploits in what will be a fantastic evening with a GENUINE local legend.

The term legend is often used to describe footballers but the term can justly be used for Franny.

Southampton born and bred, Franny played for Saints for his almost his entire professional career, making 311 appearances for the club between 1988 and 2001. Benali was a wholehearted player who never gave less than 100% and this made him a hero to the Saints fans, who loved his committed approach.

Since his retirement Franny has kept himself in good shape and he became a hero to many people up and down the land following his charitable exploits in aid of ‘Cancer research UK’.  In 2014 Franny completed a three-week 1,000-mile (1,600 km) challenge running to all 20 Premier League grounds, raising in excess of £100,000. In October 2016, Benali completed another ultra-challenge, running and cycling to all 44 Premier League and Championship stadiums in 2 weeks. He ran a marathon and cycled 75 miles each day and in the process raised over £350,000. Then last April it was announced that Benali would race seven Ironmans in seven days, as part of his aim to raise £1million for Cancer Research UK. Despite being hospitalised, Franny completed five Ironmans, raising £1million.

Franny’s charitable exploits did not go unnoticed with him receiving the Spirit of the Game award in December 2014. He was also awarded the Just Giving Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year award in September 2015. In 2016 Benali was awarded the freedom of the city of Southampton.

If anybody deserves a packed house for an event like this, its Francis Benali.
