Stags lose another long term fan.
The club loses another of its long-term fans.
We are sad to announce that AFC Totton has lost another one of its long-term supporters. Tom Elliott passed away last Friday after losing his battle against cancer.
Tom would often be seen sitting in the small stand opposite the main stand on matchdays. Tom loved coming to watch the Stags, but he had another footballing love and that was ‘The Spireites’, better known as Chesterfield FC..
I often used to read the half time scores out over the PA system, concentrating on the Premier League and local sides like Pompey and Bournemouth when the Cherries were in the lower leagues. Tom would always insist that I read out the Chesterfield score though and I would look across for his reaction to their score.
Everybody at the club would like to send out their condolences to Tom’s family at this very sad time.
There will be a minutes silence held in memory of Tom at this evenings Russell Cotes Cup tie v Christchurch.
Tom can be seen 25 seconds into this clip below talking to a Winol reporter on the opening day at the then Testwood Stadium where he tells the reporter how much he liked the new surroundings.
