AFC Totton vs Bristol Manor Farm

AFC Totton v Bristol Manor Farm – Preview

The Stags are back in action this Saturday when they take on Bristol Manor Farm at the Snows Stadium (3pm). The ‘Farmy Army’, who are managed by Lee Lashenko, have had a reasonable start to their campaign. In Southern League Division One (South) they are on exactly the same amount of points as the Stags after four games (7). They have Won 2 Drawn 1 and Lost 1. Their league results so far has seen them lose 2-0 to top of the table Cirencester, they beat Highworth 3-2 at home, they followed that up with a 3-1 win at Slimbridge and they drew 2-2 at home to Barnstaple Town last Tuesday evening.

In the FA Cup Farm have progressed through to the 3rd qualifying round after seeing off Cadbury Heath 5-1 at home, they beat Yate Town from the Division above 2-1 away from home, and they saw off Kidlington 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Oxfordshire.

Totton boss Glenn Howes would have been hugely disappointed by his sides showing in the Hampshire derby against Winchester City last Tuesday evening. Many of the Totton side had below par games and when you are taking on a decent and motivated local rival, you cannot afford to carry too many passengers in your ranks. What was baffling to many Totton fans was how the team could be so off their game when last time out they were terrific in thrashing a hard working Willand Rovers 5-0 at the Stan Robinson Stadium. Obviously massive credit goes to Winchester City, but Totton know they could have been so much better than they were on Tuesday evening.

I knew the boys would have a few wobbles whilst they bed in and I am sure there will one or two tweaks here and there until we find some consistency. It is a long season and it is where you are in May that matters. It’s great to finally see Liam Robinson playing after his summer move to the Snows Stadium, hopefully Hisham Kasimu will soon be fit enough to show the Totton fans what he can do.

One thing in the Stags favour is their previous record against the ‘Farmy Army’  Totton have WON ALL SIX GAMES they have played against them since they were promoted to the Southern League in 2016/17. In 2017/18 Totton won 3-2 at the Creek, this is a game that was illuminated by a 30 yard thunderbolt from Craig Feeney, that same season Totton beat Farm 2-1 at the Snows Stadium. In 2018/19 Totton won both home and away games 2-1 and last season Totton won 3-1 at the Snows Stadium and 3-2 at the Creek.
