Binfield FC V AFC Totton
The 2020/21 season begins in earnest for the Stags this Saturday, when they travel to Berkshire for a tricky looking FA Cup preliminary round tie at Hellenic Premier outfit Binfield FC.
Binfield, known as ‘The Moles’ look as if they will provide the Stags with a stern test at their Stubbs Lane home this Saturday (3pm). Back in March when the 2019/20 season was abandoned, the Moles stood in 2nd place in the Hellenic Premier League table. It appears that they have retained the bulk of last seasons squad and added a few new faces for this coming campaign.
Looking through the Binfield squad I noticed a familiar name from down the years in Southern League football. Striker Jemal Johnson has come up against the Stags a few times in years past, whilst he was at clubs such as Windsor & Eton, Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town.
As for Totton, the Stags recent record in the FA Cup hasn’t been great, so a cup run is well overdue. With a much stronger looking squad this season, the supporters will be hopeful that we can progress in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, However, Binfield and Frome Town are tough ties to overcome in both competitions.
For any AFC Totton fans looking to travel to Berkshire for the tie, the address is below….
My advice is not to leave it too late to arrive at the ground with limited capacity a real issue at the moment. It appears to be cash admission at the turnstiles on the day.
