CLUB STATEMENT: Louis & Adam depart

CLUB STATEMENT: Louis & Adam depart

Following the decision taken by myself and the Vice Chairman in September 2019 to change AFC Totton into a limited company we have had offers to invest in the club. Today we can announce that we have decided to accept an offer from a team to invest in the club.

To allow this to happen the current team management have decided to stand down and for the club to continue with the great progress the club has made under their leadership over the last 4 years.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Louis, Adam and the coaching team for their hard work and dedication since I have been chairman and wish them all the very best in the future.

Louis’s statement reads……………………………………

Myself and Adam would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has made our 4 years at the club enjoyable.

We are proud of the part we’ve been able to play in changing the fortunes of AFC Totton since we arrived. Losing Andy tragically, and vice chairman Roy some 3 weeks into our stint, and with the club staring in the face of relegation we are extremely proud to have survived that year.¬†Then to chase down a play-off spot for the next two seasons was testament to the all the players. Some memorable wins against higher league opposition in the trophy, a 6-0 league win and many 5-0 wins in that season we scored for fun and had the 2nd best defensive record behind runaway leaders Taunton proof these players punched well above their weight.

I hope we gave renewed enthusiasm and entertainment to the supporters. To every one of the players that have helped us, we are eternally thankful. There are not many left who play for the love, so players like Dave Allen, Robin Nicholls and Alex Haynes need your utmost respect and admiration. There are others too, but these played an entire southern league season on no money, these are proper lads and should be praised for the commitment in the clubs transformation stage. Thanks to our friends at league clubs who lent us their youngsters in our hour of need, and the boys for sticking together.

We are leaving as the club have the chance to agree good investment for next seasons playing budget (and beyond). Your club is now the place to be and again we are proud to have led that process. Adam was able to bring sponsors on board to ease the burden a little and we thank Picador, Mooreland Motors, Saints Foundation and Wessex Heartbeat for their partnership and financial support. It’s great to see the connection with Southampton FC is full force, and with others, it was a pleasure to help secure that and watch it come to fruition.

We where able to build our support team too who all played their part in raising the clubs profile and professionalism. My thanks to the social media guys (Luke, Jed, Louis), photographer Keith, the countless analysts for capturing the games (too many to mention), physio’s Imogen and Rob, therapists Caitlin and Chloe, coaches Josh and Simon, and this season GK coach Steve who all committed on good will and friendship. By the way Imogen what a hero you’ve been! To our pal Jamie we are also indebted to your long stint. As a group you leave on a win 40% win ratio, and a 59% positive result. We’d take that when we first pitched up.

Lastly, but not least, we’d like to thank the supporters who have always been in our corner and travelled to the countries beauty spots the South of England has to offer. Top effort Stags Army! The next phase will be great for you, the investment will increase the playing budget and that’s a huge positive for next season, as and when that happens, good times are just around the corner.

Our thanks to Mewy and the Doc, the Chaplain, Adz and Paul, Richard for the late late night visits to sign lads, and Sean for his infinite love of the club. It’s been our pleasure to mix with the many volunteers who are the life blood of any club, keep up the good work. Stay safe in these trying times.

Regards, Louis and Adam #GoStags
