Louis adds Liam Callaghan + Chuggy re-signs for 2019/20
It’s a busy time at the Testwood Community Stadium with Stags boss Louis Langdown busy trying to assemble his squad for 2019/20
Today, Langdown added 18 year old attacker Liam Callaghan from Eastleigh to his squad. Langdown said “Liam is exactly the player we enjoy working with, he’s young and ambitious and has the potential to make a real impact at this level. He arrives after finishing his scholarship with Eastleigh FC and has experience of senior football last season at US Portsmouth and he also had short stays with Fleet Town and Blackfield & Langley.
Our centre half Jack Smith coaches the lad at Eastleigh and was extremely positive about his ability and attitude. Josh Cotton knows him well and we’ve received glowing references as to his potential. It’s an exciting no risk gamble for us”.
Callaghan said about his move to the Stags ” I am very excited to be joining such a big club in the local area. It’s a big jump for me but it was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. I’m looking forward to meeting the players and being coached by Louis and the rest of the management team”.
There was some more great news for Langdown today when Callum Chugg put pen to paper for the new season, keeping him at the club for 2019/20.
Langdown said “We’re delighted he’s staying, we’d take nine Chuggy’s if we could, maybe even ten as he’s told us he can play in goal too. He brings a steal to us & has proved he can get important goals. It’s a big year for him, maybe even a new position as we develop him further”
Chugg said “I want to play football at a place I’m the happiest. I have good friends in the team, and I’ve really enjoyed the two years under Louis & Adam so it would be silly to stop that now”.
