Louis Langdown delighted with Barnstaple result
Sean McGlead interviewed AFC Totton manager Louis Langdown after yesterdays excellent 3-1 win over Barnstaple Town at the ‘Total Branding Community Stadium’
Louis so what are your thoughts after a great start to the season beating Barnstaple Town 3-1?
“It’s a great win mate, its always important to chalk up your first win as early as possible and we did it on the opening day in front of our own fans which was great’’
To score three goals must have been particularly pleasing for you?
‘’Yep, we scored three goals which is pleasing, I was a bit disappointed with their goal but I was very pleased with how we responded because within a few minutes we have gone down the other end and scored to regain the lead’’
We were deserving winners in my opinion would you agree Louis?
“On the balance of play yes. We played some really good football. There were one or two questions about whether we could deal with the physicality of Barnstaple because they were from the land of giants. I would say we dealt with it pretty well albeit apart from their goal. So, I am very pleased with how we dealt with that side of it because we are a young side. Callum Chugg put in a fantastic performance, he has never played at this level but the way he dealt with their big strong No 9 was pleasing to see. We can now move on from here hopefully’’
Were you pleased with your last-minute signings of Stuart Mott and Nimes Pina?
“Stuart Mott did tremendously well, he marshalled the back four superbly and scored a goal and everyone is delighted for him’’
Listen, Nimes Pina we kept quiet, everybody wants to know what is going on. He trained with us a few times, he works for the MLTC, he is a great lad. He has been around. He has played in Portugal as a professional and he has been to decent non-league clubs like Woking. He is a great lad, he is not young, he is 34, but he is a good footballer. He adds physicality to us and he is just happy to be playing again and if we can get him fit then we have got a hell of a player on our hands, although we always need to be mindful of Pina’s other commitments. He has a coaching career and he has a young family so he will not always be available due to this, but when he is available he will be a real bonus for us.’’
On Tuesday we travel to Gloucestershire to face Bishops Cleeve in our first away game of the season. Are you looking forward to that one?
They have travelled to Wimborne today and were beaten 3-1, Wimborne are going to win plenty of games at home this season so we can’t read too much into that result. Hopefully, everybody from our side will be ok with no reactions from today. We are leaving early and we will be looking for a positive result from that game.
Thankyou for your time Louis.
