Masterton and Chugg pen new deals!

Masterton and Chugg pen new deals!

Fresh from Friday’s presentation evening award winners Jack Masterton and Callum Chugg have been offered, and accepted, new contracts for the forthcoming Southern League West Campaign.

Managers Player of the season Jack has shone in a very young and talented squad with his range of passing and technical skills. In the absence of Sherbs and Dave Allen Jack has worn the armband and his maturity and understanding of football is clear to see. On retaining Jack Louis said “This is Jack’s first full season at senior level and the player we knew we were getting, we got. I really believe he has a chance of stepping up the leagues, of course we’d like that to be with the Club, and this contract is reward for his performances and commitment”.

Jack offered his thoughts on the new deal ‘I’m delighted to renew my contract for a further season. I really enjoyed last season and thought for a young side we all done very well and were unlucky not to reach the play offs. The Gaffer and Wildey have set us up well and it suits me playing centrally, so with one or two additions we can really push for a chance of promotion again”.

Masterton ‘A technically excellent player ‘

Callum has had a fantastic debut season since arriving as a relative unknown quantity from Wessex side Fawley. His no nonsense defending and commitment to keeping clean sheets certainly played its part in the sides excellent goals against column, second only to runaway Champions Taunton Town. Adam gave his thoughts on retaining Callum “Chuggy has all the attributes to kick on and play a high standard of non league football, our job is to keep his feet on the floor and ensure his second season is as good as his first. It’s easy to forget he joined us at 19 without a full season under his belt and new to the Southern League. We are very happy to have him at our club, he’s a good character and decent defender”.

Callum gave his thoughts on signing his first football contract “I am very grateful to Louis, Adam and Jam for giving me the chance to play this season, I’ve loved every minute of it. I want to repay their faith in me and push on next season, I’ve learnt so much already from people like Dave Allen, Sherbs, Ian, and obviously the boss and staff. Roll on next season and hopefully we can have another good one”

Chugg ‘A real find for the Stags’
