The stags were looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Yate Town when they entertained Swindon Supermarine this evening at The Testwood Stadium.
Steve Riley recalled Chris Onoufriou into the centre of defence in place of Ellis White. White had to settle for a place on the bench.

Before many fans had got to their seats the Stags had raced into a 1st minute lead. Kyle O’Brien slipped the ball into FEENEY who bore down on goal and slipped the ball past Worrall in the Swindon goal from just inside the box.

The fans were still talking about the 1st goal when Totton zoomed into a 2-0 lead. Jamie Bullpit put a ball into FEENEY in the six yard box and he lifted the ball over Worrall and into the net to make it 2-0.

Some people had missed both of the opening goals, fortunately for them Totton incredibly scored a third on 10 minutes when a Gilbert corner was headed home by an unmarked Chris ONOUFRIOU.

The Stags were certainly impressing the members of the new executive club at the rear of the main stand, as well as their regular supporters.

Swindon finally showed as an attacking force when Joe Shepperd headed wide at the back post from a left wing free kick. Joe Shepperd then pulled a good save from Mowthorpe when through on goal in the 12th minute.

Swindon had certainly woken up, but with a mountain to climb if they were to get back into this match! Supermarine’s Luke Hopper pulled another save from the Stags keeper Mowthorpe on 13 minutes.

After that decent little spell for Swindon, Totton went on the attack again. The Stags American midfielder Kyle O Brien sliced a chance wide for the Stags when he shot wide after a poor defensive clearance by Swindon from a Gilbert corner on the left.

The Stags then had another pop at goal when Craig Feeney picked the ball up from a deep position and let fly from 25 yards, but Feeney’s effort flew over the bar.

A good sweeping move across field by Totton saw Gilbert find Bullpit on the left, but Bullpit lost his footing temporarily before cutting inside and shooting low for goal, but Worrall saved comfortably.

Another good Totton move saw Gilbert play in O Brien, but the American midfielder shot wide from the left hand side of the box.

Next Nathaniel Sherborne was put through on goal in the 33rd minute after a neat O’Brien pass, but Sherborne normally so reliable in these situations shot straight at the Worrall from inside the box.

Sherborne pulled a save from Worrall on 37 minutes, an O‘Brien pass found Sherborne but Sherbs unfortunately hit the ball straight at Worrall. An almost identical chance fell to Sherborne a couple of moments later, but again Worrall was able to push away the effort.

On 42 minutes the Stags increased their lead when O BRIEN shot from 20 yards, Worrall got a hand to the shot but he could only help it into the net.

Totton were not finished and on the stroke of half time a sweeping move saw a right wing cross from Bullpit met by BRIDGE at the far post to make it 5-0.

Half time 5-0 to Totton.

Zac Mouland replaced Sherborne at half time and it was MOULAND who added a SIXTH Totton goal. Zac picked up the pass from O’Brien and slipped the ball past Worrall and into the net in the 50th minute.

Swindon almost immediately pulled a goal back after a left wing cross from Antonio hit Drew Bridge, the ball trickled off of him and hit the post, despite Bridge’s attempts to hook the ball away from the line, the linesman flagged to indicate that the ball had indeed crossed the line.

Totton very nearly added a 7th goal when a right wing free kick from Gilbert found another Stags sub Nathan Hurst who swivelled and hit a goal bound effort, but it was blocked by Swindon captain Dave Bampton.

Swindon sub Harry Etheridge tried to add some respectability to the scoreline but he shot over from 25 yards.

Full time. 6-1 to Totton.
