STAGS STUMBLE THROUGH TO SEMI-FINAL
AFC Totton continued their defence of the Southampton Division FA Cup with a nervy 2-1 win at Alresford Town.
Totton, heavy favourites coming into the game, took a deserved lead when Marcus DAY, on debut, caught the ‘keeper off-guard to sneak one into his near post. The visitors doubled their advantage soon after with Silvano OBENG turning home from close range.
The Stags had a host of chances but couldn’t extend their advantage. Charlie Searle in the away net was guilty of a couple of poor clearances, and was punished as Matt ANDREWS scooped the ball into an empty net.
This set up a nervy finish with the Magpies sensing the upset, but Totton held on for a semi-final berth.
