TOTTON TRIUMPH IN BATTLE OF THE STAGS
AFC Totton ensured safe passage to the second round of the Southampton FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Bashley FC.
In an end-to-end opening twenty minutes, both sides lacked sharpness, before the home side began to assert their dominance. Totton took the lead five minutes before the break, Jack HOEY making a driving run forward from midfield before hammering home when one-on-one with visiting goalkeeper Sam Thompson. The hosts pushed for more in the second half, as they contained a Bashley side that were not overawed by an opponent in the division above. Lewis Noice was forced into a couple of smart saves late on, but Totton managed their lead well to book their place in the Second Round.
