TOTTON TRAMPLE ON BERKO THROUGH RUTHLESS RENDELL

AFC Totton progressed into the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup after beating Berkhamsted 1-0 in a tight affair at the Snows Stadium.

Totton came into the game after losing to Gosport Borough, their first loss in five games, whilst Berkhamsted have suffered a difficult start to their 2023/24 campaign following promotion.

Both teams went back and forth in the first half with neither side troubling the opposing goalkeepers too much.

The best chance in the first half came from Berkhamsted in the 35th minute after Adam Martin’s teasing delivery failed to find any of the attackers.

The game came to life in the second half, however, with players from both teams stinging the palms of both goalkeepers.

Eventually, it was Totton who broke the deadlock following a great passage of play between Ethan Taylor and SCOTT RENDELL in the 71st minute; the latter finishing off a great cross from the former and dispatching from six yards.

Berkhamsted applied the pressure for the remainder of the game, but the Totton defence stood firm to grind out the victory.

AFC Totton will learn their fourth qualifying round opponents in this Monday’s draw, whilst Berkhamsted redirect their attentions back to ensuring their safety in the league.

The Stags are back in cup action next weekend, as they host Plymouth Parkway in the FA Trophy at the Snows Stadium.
