TERRIFIC TOTTON TROUNCE TOOTHLESS TIGERS

A Scott Rendell hat-trick spearheaded AFC Totton into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup to compile even more misery on Gloucester City AFC.

The opening exchanges of the game proved to be fairly balanced, with both sides enjoying an equal share of possession despite never truly testing either goalkeeper.

However, the deadlock was broken just before the half-hour mark, as debutant Joe Oastler directed his header from the corner into the path of Scott RENDELL, who turned on a sixpence to bury the ball underneath Zach Jeacock.

It was much to the outrage of the Tigers faithful, as Leon Maloney’s initial set-piece delivery did not seem to be on the corner quadrant.

Things went from bad to worse for the home side when Jamie Reckford was issued a second yellow card for fouling Adam Tomasso, leaving Gloucester City AFC a goal and man down.

The Stags doubled their advantage just five minutes into the second period; Scott RENDELL pouncing on a loose ball in the six-yard box.

Tim Flowers’ men continued to wilt and, much to the audible anger of the fans, conceded another in the 89thminute – RENDELL completing his hat-trick after some fabulous endeavour from Jordan Ragguette.

AFC Totton fans will find out their third qualifying round opponents in Monday’s draw.
