SECOND-HALF SURGE SEES STAGS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

AFC Totton righted the wrongs of their defeat to Chesham United at the weekend after defeating Plymouth Parkway 2-0 at the Snows.

Joan Luque came close in the 40th minute, bending a shot from the edge of the box into the top right corner, which was pushed out for a corner by Adam Parkes.

The Stags broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half, after Luque cut it back to Tony LEE, who whipped it past Parkes into the bottom corner.

Luque came close to doubling the score after wriggling past two men and bending the ball inches wide of the top right corner.

A tussle broke out between the two sides after a late challenge from Luke Bennett, resulting in both him and Callum Rose being booked.

Substitute Matty Burrows added bundles of energy and was brought down in the box in the 82nd minute to give the Stags a penalty, which Scott RENDELL calmly converted to make it 2-0.

In the 90th minute, Rendell found Burrows behind the defence, who hit his shot into the right post.

The last-minute drama continued when Ethan Taylor took it round Parkes with a heavy touch but couldn’t find the back of the net from the wide angle.

The full-time whistle concluded a 16th league win for the Stags in their play-offs chase, whereas Plymouth Parkway remain winless since January, continuing their relegation battle.
