STAGS AND DOLPHINS PLAY OUT STALEMATE DRAW

Play-Off contenders AFC Totton travelled to midtable Poole Town on Good Friday. The Stags were unable to breach the Dolphins' backline in a 0-0 stalemate.

Despite doubts about the game going ahead due to wet weather, the pitch passed the referee’s inspection, with the first half containing little by way of clear cut chances for either side.

Joan Luque and Perri Iandolo - in his full AFC Totton debut - were the bright sparks for the visitors in this period, both players seeing long-range efforts from just outside the area creep narrowly over the crossbar.

The second half saw a bit more goalmouth action, with substitutes Sam Magri and Benny Read combining in roles unusual to both of them just past the hour mark.

Read saw two of his efforts go wide of the far post and a one-on-one chance off a Magri through ball gobbled up after a heavy touch.

Luke Bennett was a point of difference at right-back, looking to play Ethan Taylor into space whenever he could, despite Taylor’s runs being ruled offside on two occasions.

Poole grew into the second half and, towards the end of the game, Harvey Slade and substitute Kaya Tshaka combined to test Stags 'keeper Josh Gould.

Magri then played Taylor through the middle; the winger dragged his left-footed shot wide of the far post.

The Dolphins had a chance in stoppage time through Harvey Wright, but his shot from range flew high over the bar.

AFC Totton will now turn their attention to the visit of Walton & Hersham to the Snows Stadium on Monday afternoon, with both sides looking to return to winning ways after The Swans' drew 4-4 at home to Harrow Borough on Thursday evening.
