Alfie Stanely AFC Totton V Sholing FA Cup 1st Round Qualifying.jpgAFC Totton made light work of overcoming their nearest and dearest rivals in a one-sided FA Cup encounter at the Snows Stadium.

After dominating the early possession and creating numerous half-chances, the Stags took the lead on 30 minutes when Jordan Ragguette played Stanley in down the left. The striker drove infield and squared to Tomasso who it the right-hand upright; Alfie STANLEY converted the rebound via a deflection.

Totton had several chances to extend their advantage, but they were punished for their profligacy when Wayne ROBINSON equalised for Sholing on 35 minutes.

By two minutes into the second half, the home side was 3-1 up. First, Leon MALONEY received Winterburn’s short pass to fire into the top-right corner. Then, straight from kick-off, Totton swept forward and STANLEY finished neatly after a one-two with Maloney.

Rendell’s precision pass played MALONEY in left of the penalty spot for his second goal just past the hour, which he calmly slotted past Gosney. Scott RENDELL completed the rout when an in-swinging corner from the left was allowed to bounce in the six-yard box for the centre-forward to bundle home.

Sholing’s Dan Mason was fortunate not to be sent-off for a two-footed lunge on Jordan Helliwell near the end, as Totton stroked the ball around in the sunshine to see out a comfortable victory.
