SHOLING STAGE SOUTHAMPTON SMASH-AND-GRAB
In a feisty Southampton derby, Sholing took bragging rights and three points home with a 1-0 away win at rivals AFC Totton.
Totton had the majority of chances in the first half, and the visitors had goalkeeper Ryan Gosney to thank for keeping things level, as the Sholing shot-stopper denied the hosts on multiple occasions, with Ethan Taylor and Jireh Oyebamiji both close to breaking the deadlock.
The Stags started the second-half on the front foot, with the Boatmen happy to absorb pressure and play on the counter. The tactic paid dividends in the 67th minute, a defence-splitting through ball finding LEE WORT who coolly finished for the game’s only goal.
Both sides turn to FA Cup action next weekend.
