Swindon Supermarine and AFC Totton prepare to do battle in their Southern League Premier Division South encounter at the Webbswood Stadium in Wiltshire.
ANOTHER LATE LEVELLER DENIES TOTTON VICTORY
The playoff-hunting Stags arrived at the Webbswood Stadium, the home of Swindon Supermarine, in search of all three points after dropping two in midweek to Hendon.
Totton started the stronger of the two sides, playing mostly into the channels through Jordan Chiedozie and Ethan Taylor.
Swindon eventually grew into the first half, Levi Irving running onto a through ball and rattling the post with a left-footed strike.
Taylor later picked up the ball in midfield and played a long pass over the top, causing some miscommunication between Pagel and his backline. With Chiedozie pressing the scrambling goalkeeper, the ball fell to Joan LUQUE on the edge of the box, who cooly fired into an empty net.
Both sides lacked the final pass in the first half, failing to capitalise on decent periods of play.
The home side came out firing after the interval, Joe TUMELTY equalising in the 49th minute after connecting with the ball on the pull back.
Three minutes later, Tumelty played a loose back-pass, which Joan LUQUE pounced on to, slotting left-footed under Pagel to put Totton back in front.
An intense 30-something minutes of back-and-forth between both sides looking for another goal yielded no results but fate had other ideas.
Sevn minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game, substitute Harry WILLIAMS, on his return to Supermarine blue after a spell with Salisbury, rewarded the lower mid-table side’s late persistence with another equaliser.
Totton return home to the Snows Stadium next weekend and with other results having gone their way, they’ll be looking to cement their play-off status further.
