SUBLIME STAGS ON SONG AGAINST SWANS

AFC Totton produced a classy performance to beat Walton & Hersham 3-0 on Easter Monday.

In a game featuring two sides with plenty of quality on the ball, it was a new arrival who made his presence felt early on. Marcel McIntosh, making his Totton debut on loan from Norwich City, did brilliantly to latch onto a ball forward, driving into the area only to forgo a shooting chance to clip the ball to Adam Tomasso on the other side of the area, who cushioned a pass for Scott RENDELL to coolly finish for the opener.

Walton & Hersham posed a threat going forward, with Stanley Flaherty and Nana Owusu both lively, but Josh Gould in goal was equal to everything they could throw at him.

The Swans started the second half brightly but were undone from a set piece. The hosts advanced well up the field, switching from one flank to the other to win a corner, and Joan Luque’s near post cross was headed home by Tony LEE to double the home advantage.

The visitors continued to search for a way back into the game, with Totton able to punish them on the counter-attack. Perri Iandolo intercepted a cross-field ball, drove forward to the edge of the area, and slid a pass through to Ethan TAYLOR, who nervelessly rolled the ball into the bottom corner to seal a well-deserved three points.
