RAMPANT STAGS STRENGTHEN HOLD OF TOP SPOT

AFC Totton went three points clear at the top of the Southern League Division One South table, thrashing play-off contenders Wimborne Town 4-0 at New Cuthbury.

The Stags got the ball rolling immediately; Ethan TAYLOR pouncing on a loose ball following a corner to continue his fine run of goalscoring form.

The rest of the half failed to find rhythm, as Totton extended their lead after the break, courtesy of Scott RENDELL.

The striker converted a cross from Benny Read, before a deflected shot from distance from Adam TOMASSO made it three, rooting the goalkeeper to the spot.

A Matty BURROWS screamer wrapped up the points, as the teenager hit a stunning left-footed strike from distance into the far corner.

Totton return to action in midweek, travelling to Tavistock AFC on Wednesday.
