Requesting Volunteers – Coronavirus Vaccine Programme
Request for volunteers – Coronavirus Vaccination Programme
19 November 2020
You will have no doubt seen and heard about the national coronavirus vaccination programme announced in the press recently. With this in mind, we are posting this information to ask for volunteers in the Totton and surrounding area that may be able to help with this process.
Testvale Surgery and New Horizons Medical Partnership are working together to manage the vaccination process for all their patients which will start with the most vulnerable, and are working through the complex logistics of how this will happen in the safest and most efficient way.
With that in mind, we are looking to the residents of Totton who may be able to give up some of their time in order to help our administrative and clinical staff with this process. We need volunteers to help fulfil the following roles:
- Queue management – to help marshall and control queues of patients waiting to be vaccinated both inside and outside of a community venue;
- Cleaning staff – to help keep the inside of the community venue clean between vaccination sessions;
- Temperature and symptom checker – someone who would check each patient’s temperature with a non-touch thermometer and ask questions to ensure no one is suffering from covid; and
- Any clinical staff – Health Care Assistants, Nursing staff, Pharmacy staff and others who may live locally to Totton but who could assist in vaccine administration and the clinical management of patients.
Because you will be in contact (albeit for a very short time) with many people, you must be fit and well and in a low risk group for covid illness.
If you think you might be able to offer your time then please email Chris Gwyther, Practice Manager at Testvale Surgery at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, contact details and the role in which you can assist. They will then make contact when more details have been confirmed.
