It took City just 2 minutes to take the lead against the young Stags with a goal direct from a corner. The in-swinging kick eluded everyone and ended up in the back of the net. City continued to threaten and went close to increasing the lead after 11 minutes. A free kick into box from 25 yards out, was headed just wide of the goal.

Totton had their first effort on goal after 13 minutes. A James Matthews corner found Josh Carey who brought the ball down, but saw his shot saved by the keeper. City increased their lead with 19 minutes of the game gone. With right back Tyler Beech laying injured inside his own half, City exposed the space behind, breaking forward to make it 2-0.

On 24 minutes, Totton pulled a goal back. Matt Wotton chased a long ball forward, got in front of the centre back and knocked it over the advancing keeper. Moments later City almost scored but were denied when Mitchell Jackson tipped a shot over the bar.

After 68 minutes, the stand in keeper made a great reactionary save as he tipped a close-range effort over the bar. Woeful Totton’s miserable afternoon was completed on 83 minutes when City made it 5-2. They switched play from right to left inside the Totton half, before cutting inside and firing home.
