After 6 minutes, the away side took the lead when a 20 yard shot beat keeper Mitchell Jackson. Totton battled back & with 20 minutes gone, Shahram Jalal cut inside passing to Matt Wotton who picked out Josh Carey to score from the edge of the box.

Totton went close on 40 minutes when Matt Wotton saw his shot from the edge of the box go just over the bar. It was Totton who took the lead after 42 minutes, when Shahram Jalal cut inside from the right & fired his shot into the top corner of the goal.

Half Time: AFC Totton 2-1 Moneyfields

The visitors started the second half stronger & it took a great save by Mitchell Jackson after 50 minutes to keep the lead intact. However, they grabbed an equaliser on 62 minutes from the penalty spot when the young Stags keeper was judged to have brought down the player as he challenged to clear a ball into the box.

Totton went close minutes later following a scramble inside the penalty area where James Matthews, Josh Carey & Matt Wotton all had shots blocked before the ball was cleared.

After 65 minutes, Moneyfields took the lead after breaking forward & a crossfield pass from the right was fired home from 16 yards. On 71 minutes the visitors scored a fourth from a corner, when the ball was played to the edge of box & fired home. Minutes later Moneyfields scored a fifth when a ball into the box from the right was headed home from close range.

On 78 minutes Shahram Jalal was brought down outside the box, after a fine run through the middle of the park. He took the resulting free kick, but it was comfortably held by the keeper. After 89 minutes Moneyfields scored a sixth goal of the night following a breakaway attack into the Totton half. Shahram Jalal was then shown a straight red card with literally the last kick of the game for a foul on the halfway line.

Full credit to these Young Stags who last night completed what was a difficult season. With a change in manager halfway through the season, Mark Diaper picked up a demoralised group and got them first to enjoy their football. The small squad responded brilliantly by rolling their sleeves up, working hard for each other & never giving up. It’s been a pleasure to watch this good group of players & Good Luck to them next season with the step up into men’s football.
