U18’s Suffer a heavy defeat to Brock

AFC Totton 1 – 7 Brockenhurst

The young Stags were comprehensively beaten by the Badgers on a sunny afternoon at the Testwood Stadium.

Totton conceded within the first minute of the game from the Badgers first attack down the right. The ball was played into the box and defender Aaron McKeown, attempting to clear, put the ball into his own net.

After 11 minutes, the Badgers made it 2-0 from an in swinging corner when the ball was headed in at the far post. On 17 minutes the Badgers hit the bar following another attack and shot from inside the box. With 21 minutes gone, Totton conceded a third goal in what was a repeat of the second. Another in swinging corner was headed home at the far post.

On 25 minutes the Badgers scored their fourth goal of the afternoon direct from a free kick. From 25 yards out, the ball was drilled past the three man wall and the fingertips of diving keeper Mitchell Jackson.

After 30 minutes Totton created their first real chance of the game, as Matt Wotton ran on but pulled his shot wide from 25 yards. On 33 minutes a good interchange between James Matthews & Matt Wotton ended with his shot being blocked for a corner. The resulting corner from James Matthews picked out Jack Diaper, who headed just over the bar.

The Badgers scored a fifth goal shortly after the interval, following a break forward and shot from inside the box. On 60 minutes Harry Edmondson’s diagonal pass found James Matthews, but his shot was blocked from the right hand side of the penalty area.

With 65 minutes gone, Totton pulled a goal back. Josh Carey played the ball to James Matthews who ran to the byline and chipped the ball across for Matt Wotton to head home from 6 yards out.

After 82 minutes the Badgers scored a sixth goal following an attack down the left and shot from a tight angle. Moments later Totton were then awarded a free kick which strangely saw the referee show Sam Muddiman a straight red card.

On 88 minutes the Badgers made it 7-1 with a free kick that was easily curled around the wall and past keeper Mitchell Jackson.

The match ended and the crowd go home not overjoyed by the performance from the young stags, but having seen 8 goals scored. The young stags will need to improve ahead of next week’s visit to Team Solent.
