AFC Totton crowned their first ever step two game at the Snows Stadium with a 3-0 win against Tonbridge Angels!
It was a bright start from The Stags as in just three minutes Christie Ward had a pop shot from outside the box but the ‘keeper saved.
Not a lot of chances came in the next 20 minutes, but Totton were having the better of the possession in attacking areas.
A couple of half chances went the way of Tyler Cordner and Tony Lee but neither really troubled the back of the net.
The 40th minute saw AFC Totton take the lead through TONY LEE!
Ash Clarke crossed the ball towards the back post, an inch-perfect cross found the head of Lee and he guided the ball into the corner!
Half-time and The Stags had a deserved lead at the break, Tonbridge having a better go at it towards the end of the half, but that Lee goal was a sucker punch for their momentum.
The start of the second half and Totton were on top, Ward played it to Clarke but his shot stung the palms of the ‘keeper.
In the 50th minute, TONY LEE got his second of the game with a beautiful acrobatic finish!
Clarke lifted the ball over the defenders for his second assist of the game and Lee with great improvised finished, a scissor kick and capped off his goal with a sensational backflip celebration!
After going 2-0 up, Totton slowed their momentum and ball tempo, Tonbridge started to threaten the box a bit more however Ryan Gosney stood firm in between the sticks.
The game started to become a bit broken Tonbridge keeping possession, but Totton’s defence weren’t really troubled.
Then it was three in the 87th minute with HISHAM KASIMU with his second touch of the ball calmly slotted the ball into the corner to mark his return to the Snows Stadium in Blue!
Defensive changes came on for The Stags and despite a last chance saloon for Tonbridge to get at least a consolation but the final third play was lacking that oomph to get a goal.
The full-time whistle came and it’s a piece of history for The Stags, first ever game at step two on home turf and a three-goal win to seal the deal for the three points!
Next Tuesday we are off on the road to Torquay for a highly-anticipated away day for The Stags!
