AFC Totton AFC Totton Enterprise National League

The Stags make the short trip to Wiltshire tomorrow evening to take on Sydenhams  Wessex Division One outfit Bemerton at their Western Way home. This will be the Stags 3rd Pre-Season friendly so far, following a 3-0 win at Fawley, and a 1-1 draw at Weston Super Mare last Saturday. Manager Glenn Howes will be looking to get another positive performance out of his new look squad prior to their first home friendly against Havant & Waterlooville at the Snows Stadium this coming Saturday.

There are a few Totton connections at Western Way. Bemerton chairman Steve Slade used to don the then blue and white striped AFC Totton kit in the early 1980’s. Their Assistant manager is Jamie Cotton, who of course worked alongside Louis Langdown and Adam Wilde at the Snows Stadium for a couple of seasons, Jamie also worked alongside former boss Steve Hollick around five years ago.  Harlequins also have Jack Smith in their side. Smithy was an excellent centre half at the Snows Stadium under Langdown and Wilde. Another player with Totton connections is Jack Vallis, who had a brief spell with the Stags in 2015. Left back Eddie Perrett is another former Totton player who will be up against his former club tomorrow evening. Then finally their is the prolific Justin Bennett who netted 40 goals for Harlequins last season……and to think the season was cut short!!!
