CRAIG TANNER SIGNS NEW DEAL
AFC Totton are delighted to announce that midfielder Craig Tanner has signed a new deal, becoming the second piece of important business for the club this summer.
Since arriving at the Snows Stadium on the 24th January 2025, Tanner has brought quality, experience, and composure to the middle of the park, quickly becoming an important part of the squad.
The 30-year-old made his debut for the Stags just one day after signing, featuring in the Southern League Premier South Division clash against Plymouth Parkway at home on Saturday 25th January 2025.
Tanner’s career has seen him gain valuable experience across the English and Scottish game. Beginning his career with Reading FC, he also enjoyed loan spells with AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle FC, before going on to represent Motherwell FC, Aldershot Town FC, and Ebbsfleet United FC.
Known for his technical ability, vision, and experience in midfield, Tanner has made a huge impact since arriving at the club. His performances and influence across the campaign saw him awarded the Manager’s Player of the Season award for 2025/26 , recognition of the consistency and quality he has shown in a Totton shirt.
Speaking on Craig's new deal, Stag's boss Scott Rendell said " You really appreciate Craig properly when you watch him every week. The quality on the ball is obvious, but it’s the way he manages games, talks to people around him and sets standards day-to-day that makes him so important for us. Since coming in 18 months ago, he’s bought into everything we’re trying to do here.
He’s got real experience, but there’s no ego with him he just wants to work, compete and help the group improve. Being my Player of the Season tells you everything about how highly he’s thought of by the staff, so getting him signed up again is a massive positive for the club.”
