Cinderford Town v AFC Totton preview.
This Saturday AFC Totton face one of their longest trips of the season when they travel to the Causeway Ground to face Cinderford Town (3pm).
Cinderford have had a decent start to the season winning five, drawing two and losing one of their eight league games played so far. The ‘Foresters’ sit 2nd in the table with seventeen points.
The Stags look in really good shape themselves after two consecutive victories, the latest being an emphatic 5-0 win at Bridgwater Town last Saturday. The manner of that performance would have really pleased manager Steve Hollick. The players set their stall out from the off at Fairfax Park as they really got amongst their opponents. It’s no exaggeration to say that Totton could have doubled the winning margin on the day. It was more of a case of Totton playing well than of Bridgwater being poor in my opinion.
I have been fortunate enough to have witnessed training this week and there really seems to be an extra spring in the step of the players. One thing is for sure, the management team will not let the players get carried away after that terrific 5-0 win, Yes the players and staff would have enjoyed it, but now it’s all about focusing on Cinderford. The management team will know full well how tough this Saturday’s fixture will be and they will be making sure the players know what a tough game this will be. that is for sure.
Last season the Stags played at the causeway twice. They were well beaten 4-0 in the league fixture. However, the Stags fared much better in the FA trophy when they managed a 1-1 draw thanks to a late equaliser from Nathan Hurst.
