AFC Portchester v AFC Totton preview
AFC Totton are in FA Cup Preliminary round action this Saturday (3pm) when the travel across Hampshire to face AFC Portchester at the Wicor Recreation Ground.
Although, Portchester are a Sydenhams Premier side, they are seen by many as one of the favourites to take the Sydenhams Premier crown at the end of the season. They are managed by former Arsenal legend and Portsmouth boss Graham Rix.
Amongst their squad Portchester boast former Stag Alex Baldaccino, who played under Steve Riley in 2012/13 for a while. Also amongst their squad they have Joe Noakes, formerly of Havant & Waterlooville. Some Totton fans will recall that Joe spent time on loan with the Stags at the beginning of the 2013/14 season.
This will be the third cup tie between the two clubs in the last couple of years and the Royals have had the upper hand so far. In Oct 2013 the Stags were beaten 3-1 at the Wicor Recreation Ground in a Hampshire Senior Cup tie and in Feb 2014 the Royals defeated the Stags 2-1 at The Testwood Stadium in the Russell Cotes Cup. On this occasion we hope for a better outcome.
