Stags v Shortwood United Preview
The Stags play their 2nd consecutive home game this week when they entertain Shortwood United at the Testwood Stadium tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. Steve Hollicks side will be eager to claim their first victory of the season.
Two mixed performances have seen the Stags pick up one point from their first two games. From what we have seen so far, I don’t think there is any question that Totton will score goals this season. However, there may be one or two areas in the team that still need a tweak.
Tomorrows opponents known simply as ‘The Wood’ have also had a mixed start to the season. On the opening day they won 4-1 at home to Wimborne, then in midweek they travelled to Swindon Supermarine and suffered a 2-0 defeat.
It wasn’t the best of summers for Shortwoods joint management team of Alex Sykes and John Evans who lost a number of key players, including last season’s top scorer Ross Langworthy, 6 ft 8 striker Lewis Sommers, the tricky Marley Thomas, Josh Egan and Josh Klien Davies who played against us for Taunton last week.
In the corresponding fixture last season Shortwood ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Marley Thomas and Lewis Sommers.
DON’T FORGET!!! Southampton v Everton LIVE on BT Sport in the Stagbar tomorrow lunchtime. The Saints game kicks off at 12.45pm.
