WITH ONLY THE LEAGUE to focus on now, The Stags make the trip to Devon and the Ian Moorcroft Stadium to take on Tiverton Town in a bid to maintain pressure at the top of the Southern League Premier Division South table.
AFC Totton were surprisingly knocked out at the Third Round stage of the Isuzu FA Trophy at Biggleswade Town on Tuesday night, losing on penalties to The Waders after a 1-1 draw in Bedfordshire.
TIVERTON TOWN – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
Tiverton sit in 17th place, currently hovering above the relegation zone by just two points, with a total of 19 points from 18 games. The Gold Army began the season in poor fashion, losing 0-6 at Merthyr Town. Their next six games brought one draw and five defeat, including a 0-3 loss to Wimborne Town in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.
They finally managed a win at Frome Town, and followed that with their first home victory of the season against Winchester City, giving them two wins against potential fellow relegation battlers. But when they faced a top-half team in the shape of Gloucester City, ‘Tivvy’ lost 0-1 at home, before also being knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy by Dorchester Town on penalties.
Two big away losses against Swindon Supermarine (0-4) and Wimborne Town (0-3) came before a 3-3 draw with Sholing, and then a 3-1 win against Poole Town. In their last five matches, Tiverton Town have picked up seven points, largely thanks to back-to-back wins in their last two outings.
