Bracknell Town_500px.pngTHE STAGS ARE ON THE ROAD AGAIN in the Southern League Premier Division South this weekend, as we make the relatively short trip to Berkshire to take on Bracknell Town.

Let’s take a look at The Robins…

THE BASICS
Bracknell Town Football Club is based in Sandhurst, Berkshire. Affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association, they are currently members of the Southern League Premier Division South and play their home matches at Bottom Meadow in Sandhurst.

HAVE THEY GENERALLY BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE LEAGUE?
In 2017/18, Bracknell were Runners-Up in the Hellenic League Premier Division, earning promotion to the South Central Division of the Isthmian League, as well as retaining the Challenge Cup with a 3–1 win over Thatcham Town in the Final. The following season saw them finish Runners-Up in the Isthmian League's South Central Division, qualifying for the Promotion Play-Offs. After beating Westfield 2-1 in the Semi-Finals, they lost 0-3 to Cheshunt in the final.

In 2021/22 the club won the division, securing the championship by mid-March, to earn promotion to the Premier Division South of the Southern League.

HOW DID THEY GET ON LAST SEASON?
Bracknell finished Runners-Up in the Southern League Premier Division South last season, missing out on promotion due to a 1-2 to Truro City in the Play-Off Final, after having overcome Chesham 1-0 in the Semi-Final. The Robins did however win the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup for the first time, beating Marlow 1-0 in the Final.

HAVE AFC TOTTON PLAYED THEM RECENTLY?
The two clubs have had four encounters in the past in which The Stags were successful on all four occasions. The four games came across two seasons between 2008/09 to 2009/10. Totton were victorious in the away games winning 2-1 and 1-0. At home, The Stags won 3-1 and 9-0 - with James Taylor (Ethan’s father) scoring half-a-dozen goals across the two home fixtures.

DO WE HAVE CURRENT OR FORMER PLAYERS IN COMMON?
None that we’re aware of – but if you know of anyone who has played for both clubs, please get in touch and let us know!

WHO IS THEIR MANAGER NOW?
Jamie McClurg and Carl Withers. The managerial duo joined Bracknell from Binfield in September 2022 and guided the club to the Play-Offs and a County Senior Cup title. The club have ambitions that match our own, in terms of wanting to compete in the Vanarama Leagues.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE GAME?
The match will take place at Bottom Meadow, Yorktown Road, Sandhurst GU47 9AH on Saturday 21 October. Kick-off will be at 3:00pm.

CAN I BUY TICKETS?
Tickets will be available at the turnstile on the day. You can purchase a seat on the fans' minibus travelling to the game from the Snows Stadium complex on Saturday morning via this website.
