After the game I (Sean McGlead) spoke to Stags boss Steve Hollick briefly to collect his thoughts on the 3-0 defeat at Cinderford.
Steve not the best of days for us?
No, not at all, in this league you can’t compete for just 45 minutes. After the first half the lads were honest, they knew it was below par and yet again we have conceded at crucial times. If you go in 1-0 down you can get back into the game but to go in 2-0 down then you’re pushing it. So, yes the first half was disappointing and the lads were honest enough to admit it.
On Tuesday evening we have an opportunity to put this game behind us when we are at home to Bashley, what are your thoughts on that one?
Yes, it will be an interesting game to go into with Riles (Steve Riley) coming back. As you say we have an opportunity to get today’s game out of our system. We knew Cinderford were a decent side, we thought we could get something here, but it just hasn’t happened and the lads know that they under performed. There is certainly no crisis and there will be no knock on the confidence. Hopefully on Tuesday the lads can put things right.
The game v Bashley is at the Testwood Stadium this coming Tuesday 29th and it kicks off at 7.45pm.
