Totton fought back from a goal down to defeat the ten-men of Eastbourne Borough.
On a very wet and windy day at The Snows Stadium, an 8th-placed Stags side took on a 23rd placed Eastbourne Borough.
Eastbourne scored with a quickfire fifth minute goal through Pemi Aderoju after Totton were pickpocketed in the middle of the park and the ball found its way through to Aderoju and he fired low past Ryan Gosney.
It was a slow start from The Stags but once the 15th minute hit, the game started to shift with Totton moving the ball quicker.
Both teams were forced into early changes, and the game was really stop-start.
The Sports were set up in a really staunched shape and Totton were struggling to find a breakthrough.
Eastbourne could’ve doubled their lead as they had three consecutive corners towards the end of the first half but at half-time it was 0-1.
In the 54th minute, the game flipped, Eastbourne were down to ten-men after Pitblado received a second yellow card for a foul on Tony Lee as he skipped past two defenders in the right-hand channel!
Now the momentum was fully behind Totton and there was chance after chance.
In the 61st minute, a huge chance fell to Hisham Kasimu. Superb work from Christie Ward down the right hand side to fashion a ball across the six-yard box and with the goal gaping, Kasimu slid in and poked the ball wide.
The away side were resilient, sitting deeper and deeper trying to defend the man advantage that The Stags had, until the 74th minute when Tony Lee cushioned his header for SCOTT RENDELL to smash home the equaliser!
Totton continued to probe, and the eventual winner came through TONY LEE in the 87th minute, as Malachi Linton crossed from the right-hand side and Lee powered his header home.
As the clock was ticking down, despite being 2-1 up, Totton were still the ones pushing for a goal and in the 95th minute came it was a smart save to deny Lee by Sandford.
Full-time at a windy and wet Snows Stadium, three points go to Totton.
