The South Hampshire Deaf Children’s Society (SHDCS) provides friendship, support and community for families with Deaf children in the local area.
We are a small but passionate charity that offers support through social events, parent-to-parent connections, information sharing and advocacy — helping children and their families feel confident, connected and proud within the Deaf community.
Through our work we:
- Support families with Deaf children, regardless of level of deafness or communication method.
- Build community by arranging events where families can meet, share experiences and form lifelong friendships.
- Share knowledge — including education, technology and services — drawing on lived experience and links with professional partners.
- Raise awareness and campaign for the rights of Deaf children and improved accessibility across society.
Our vision is to ensure that every deaf child and their family has access to a supportive community, vital information and the confidence to thrive — and that no family has to navigate challenges alone.
