Improvement work began on the Snows Stadium pitch today to make it ‘even better’ for next season. As we all know the pitch was as good last season as it was when the club first moved into the Stadium. We asked chairman Wayne Mew to tell us what work is being undertaken this summer and this is what he told us……
‘The drainage at the far end of the pitch is being improved to take the water away from the linesman’s run along the touchline, drainage work is also being carried out in the goalmouth at the far end’
‘Large areas of the grass between the touchline and the perimeter fence are being replaced with an artificial surface’
‘All of the grass is being removed for the 1st time since the pitch was laid. The pitch will then be re-seeded for the new season’
‘There are ongoing discussions to decide whether we renew the dugouts or extend the netting behind the goals, as none of our strikers can hit the target! We are unsure at the moment if this will happen this summer or next’.
