Headline sponsors hampshire foster carers.jpeg

Saturday’s game with Worthing FC was made even more special thanks to the support of our headline sponsors, Hampshire County Council Fostering Service. We are proud to shine a light on an organisation that is making a genuine difference to lives across our community.

Part of Hampshire County Council, the fostering service is built on a strong and compassionate network of over 450 fostering households, supported by around 60 dedicated staff. Together, they work tirelessly to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people across Hampshire.

Their work is recognised at the very highest level, having been rated outstanding by Ofsted. This reflects not only the quality of care provided, but also the innovative support, training, and guidance offered to foster carers throughout their journey.

At its core, fostering is about giving children what they deserve: a safe place to live, someone to care, and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Hampshire’s fostering service offers a wide range of pathways to suit different people and lifestyles, from overnight stays and respite care to long-term fostering, emergency placements, and parent-and-child arrangements. Every child is different, and the service works closely with carers to find the right fit for both them and the young people they support.

One of the most powerful aspects of fostering is the real-life impact it has, not just on children, but on the carers themselves. As one foster carer shared, their journey began simply with a desire to make a difference. Over time, it became something far more meaningful, filled with challenges, rewards, and unforgettable moments. They spoke of the joy in seeing a young person grow in confidence, thrive in education, and experience the stability of a warm and supportive home.

Even simple experiences can mean everything. Trips to local football matches, for example, can provide not just entertainment but a sense of belonging, a chance to be part of something, to enjoy everyday moments that many take for granted. These are the memories that shape lives.

For many carers, fostering becomes a lifelong journey. One particularly touching story tells of a young girl who, after being supported through care, went on to build her own family, later asking her former foster carers to become grandparents to her children. It’s a testament to the lasting bonds that fostering can create.

However, the need for foster carers in Hampshire continues to grow. There remains a significant gap between the number of children needing homes and the number of carers available. For every child placed, others are still waiting for the same chance.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time to take that first step. As carers often say, “open your home and see where it takes you”, it could change a life, including your own.

We extend our sincere thanks once again to Hampshire County Council Fostering Service for their incredible support on Saturday, and for the life, changing work they continue to do every single day.
