Graham Lycett caught up with Totton's latest signing midfielder Charlie Davis. Signed from Salisbury FC, Charlie has previously played for non-league teams Dorchester Town, Poole Town, Weymouth and Gosport.

Charlie has spent the past 3 seasons with Salisbury FC's first team, making 65 starts, 4 appearances from the bench and scored 10 goals. Charlie describes himself as an "attacking midfielder who likes to get forward whenever the opportunity arises and an eye for goals"

Here is what Davis has to say about his football journey:

"[I] grew up in Poole. So [my] football journey started off at Bournemouth at a young age."

Davis progressed though AFC Bournemouth's Academy, being rewarded with a scholarship in 2011.

"then moved to Spain for a trial and played over there for six months but was homesick, so I came home, and since then I've been around non-league. I've been at a few local clubs. Poole Town, Dorchester, spent three years at Weymouth then to Gosport, [then] Salisbury three years ago. I've done three years of stop start COVID seasons and then a full one. That's my journey."

Speaking on what draws him to AFC Totton, Davis spoke of his connections within the team and the club's vision and drive:

"Just the vision of it all. I know a few of the lads [at AFC Totton] Tommy Kennedy,  Carts, Yemi, and it's just the drive of the club. It's something that I see [as] long term. [It is] something that I really want to get my teeth into and hopefully see it out over a few years."

"This was something that I had my eye on in the summer, to be honest. [I] looked at and spoke to a few people and I've heard nothing but praise about Jimmy Ball. I'm keen to get going and work with him."
