AFC Totton

It was a harsh visit to the Optima Stadium against Weston-Super-Mare as The Stags came out on the worse end of a 3-1 defeat to The Seagulls.
In the opening 5 minutes both team tried to establish dominance over the other by trying to
have control of possession and dictate the game to their liking.
The first proper chance of the game came after 10 minutes and fell to Weston-Super-Mare
and Jacob Jagger Cane who's shot was fired into the side netting after breaking down the right wing.
Weston-Super-Mare kept pressing with Jacob Jagger Cane firing a curling effort wide of the Totton goal after cutting in from the left. Totton tried getting into the game with Sol Wanjau-Smith and Ralph Vigrass trying to deliver crosses but they were just out of reach of striker, Tony Lee.
On 17 minutes a cross from a corner was met by Jacob Jagger Cane who headed the ball
into the ground and it narrowly goes wide of the post.
This was followed on 19 minutes by the best chance for Totton so far in the game as a cross
from Sol Wanjau-Smiths' free kick came to Tony Lee who's volley hit the side netting. Totton started to show they were growing into the game as on the 21st minute Ralph Vigrass beat the defence down the right with some skill and played in Josh Sims who;s shot was blocked and ricocheted out to Sol Wanjau-Smith who's shot was also blocked.
For the next 10 minutes Weston-Super-Mare bombarded the Totton defence who held out,
until the 34th minute as the ball got played into Brad Ash who slotted past Gosney to make it 1-0. Minutes later Caden Voice fired a shot that hit the post after it was worked down the left hand side.
Weston-Super-Mare doubled their lead in the 42nd minute to make it 2-0 after Ash scored
after a squared ball teed him up.
In the second half Weston picked up where they left off by bombarding the Totton goal with
chances coming from Louis Britton, who saw a header tipped onto the crossbar by Ryan
Gosney and a shot sliced that was easy for Gosney to collect.
On the 55th minute Weston-Super-Mare extended their lead as Jacob Jagger Cane got his
goal curling a shot past Ryan Gosney.
After the hour mark Totton warmed into the game with Ralph Vigrass having 2 opportunities
at goal first being a header that just went wide of the post and the second a well driven shot
that Weston keeper Max Harris had to get down low to save.
Weston kept coming with Ash breaking down the right wing and trying a chip that Gosney
caught easily followed by a thunderous strike that Gosney punched away.
On the 81st minute Totton got a goal back into the game through Luke Hallett who was open
in space and headered Sol Wanjau-Smiths cross into the top right corner, leaving Max
Harris rooted to the spot making it 3-1
Weston kept on the attack leading to the end of the game as Will Jenkins Davis fired a free
kick just wide of the Totton goal.
Totton return to action on Saturday as they host Slough at The Snows Stadium.
