AFC Totton are delighted to confirm the appointment of Scott Rendell as First Team Manager!
As a player, Scott Rendell has been a role model around the club and a key figure in AFC Totton’s recent history, making 186 appearances and scoring 97 goals in all competitions since signing in July 2022.
After taking interim charge of the first team alongside Director of Football Dave Wright on the 18th of March, Rendell oversaw eight fixtures in National League South, winning four, drawing one and losing three, with four victories coming in the last five matches.
Rendell described the opportunity as “an honour” and stressed that the focus now turns to the work ahead.
“The groundwork has been put in place over the last eight or nine games,” he said. “Now it’s about looking forward to next season with a big, positive group and continuing to progress.”
He added that the focus will be on growth and improvement following the current campaign, as the club looks to move forward under his leadership.
Director of Football, Dave Wright, commented: “Scott has been a pleasure to work with during his time in the interim role. From the moment he stepped in, he demonstrated strong leadership, clear communication and a real understanding of what it takes to drive standards both on and off the pitch. He has brought a calm authority, a clear identity to the team, and most importantly, the respect of the players and staff.
“What has stood out is his ability to connect people, create a positive environment and maintain a relentless focus on improving performance. Those qualities, alongside his knowledge of the game, made him a natural fit for the role on a permanent basis.
“I’d also like to place on record my thanks to all of the staff, who have been outstanding in their support throughout this period, and to the club as a whole for the alignment and belief shown in making this decision. It’s a collective step forward, and one we’re all fully behind as we continue to build and move the club in the right direction.”
Chairman, Kevin Hebenton, said: “A huge congratulations to Scott on his appointment as First Team Manager. The decision to offer Scott the role was unanimous, reflecting the board’s complete confidence in his ability to lead the team forward. While it’s fair to say he impressed throughout the process, the truth is the club was fully committed to securing his appointment.
“Since joining AFC Totton as a player four years ago, Scott has exemplified professionalism in every sense. A natural leader and a true servant to the club, his contribution on the pitch has been outstanding, amassing a remarkable number of appearances and 97 goals.
“To our supporters, your unwavering backing through both the highs and the more challenging periods, especially during this past season, has been invaluable. I have no doubt you will continue to stand firmly behind Scott and the team as we look ahead to next season and work to establish ourselves in the National League South.
“The board and I extend our very best wishes to Scott for our final league game on Saturday, and we look forward with great enthusiasm to working alongside him and his management team in the season ahead.”
