STAGS STRIDE ON IN SOUTHAMPTON CUP

AFC Totton defeated nearby AFC Stoneham of the Wessex League Premier Division 3-0 to continue their defence of the Southampton Divisional FA Cup.

Totton threatened from the outset and took an early lead when Jake ADAMS stabbed home after Silvano Obeng’s header hit the base of the post.

The Stags doubled their lead midway through the first half, Silvano OBENG this time planting his header in the back of the net.

The hosts managed the game from there, but nearly gave Stoneham a way back from the penalty spot, only for Jim Orvis to miss the target.

Maybe given a wake-up call, Totton ensured the victory when Ethan TAYLOR coolly finished into the corner in stoppage time.
