“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”.
That’s a beautiful sentiment from the iconic Christmas film Elf, but we’d have to disagree (sorry, Buddy!).
There are some things we’re pretty good at, at AFC Totton – football, Sunday roasts and organising awesome events, for example, but singing is not one of them. We need to spread Christmas cheer in other ways.
For many people, the past few years have been incredibly challenging. Christmas cheer might be thin on the ground for many families as the cost of living continues to rise. As a result, some children in Totton and the nearby areas will wake up on Christmas morning without a present to open.
Every year it breaks our hearts that too many children in the local community will wake up without a toy or gift on Christmas Day. That’s why we’re getting our Santa Sacks ready and launching the Annual AFC Totton Toy Appeal.
How the Totton Toy Appeal Works.
We’re collecting toys for local children of all ages, boys and girls, from babies to school leavers. You can donate your unwrapped gifts via the drop-off point at AFC Totton. Just come into the main club entrance at Snows Stadium.
If you can’t get to the club, drop us a line via enquiries@afctotton.com or call Dave Penny on 07754 753426, and we will gladly come and pick up your donation from the Totton area.
Don’t delay though, we need your donations as soon as possible to make sure they’re with Father Christmas in time for the big day. You have until 14th December to donate.
Every year, we work with local schools and community groups to distribute the toys and Christmas gifts to those who need them most.
AFC Totton’s Vice-Chairman and Toy Appeal Champion, Dave Penny, said, “Every year, we’re blown away by the generosity of the Stags family. Despite our challenges, no one wants to think of a child going without on Christmas morning. So we’re calling on you again for your support.
“It’s scandalous that so many families struggle daily in what is considered an affluent area of the UK. The Christmas Toy Appeal is a way of spreading that Christmas cheer to as many people as possible. Any gift contribution, from books and toys to games and gadgets, is so gratefully received by the club and, more importantly, the children and their families.”
