TRURO CITY – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
The Tinners have had a tough start to the season, sitting in one of the four relegation spots in the National league in 23rd, on just 8 points from 14 games. City had a rough first three games to the National League season, losing all three with the scoreline 2-0, against Wealdstone away, York at home and Tamworth away.
However, in the National League Cup they did manage to beat Southampton U21’s kicking off their cup campaign in good style just after their opening day defeat to the aforementioned Wealdstone.
After that win against Saints youngsters, they couldn’t carry the form into their next two National League fixtures against Southend, to which they lost 0-1 and Boreham Wood, which they fell to a 2-1 defeat in.
Finally though they got points on the board at the end of August, winning 3-0 at home to Boston United, and they kicked off September with a good home draw against Aldershot. After that though it was back-to-back defeats against Carlisle (3-0) and Rochdale (0-1).
Another win in the National League cup followed those two losses but it was a return to two more defeats straight after in the league, losing to Scunthorpe and Brackley respectively, both away.
More recently, in their last three matches, they have picked up four points, including a big 5-0 home win against Morecambe, as well as in their last match a 2-2 away draw to Woking. Sandwiched in between those games however was a 0-2 home defeat against Eastleigh, and just after the draw to Woking, they kick off their FA Cup campaign with a visit to Totton.

MY OPPOSITION PLAYERS TO WATCH:
DEFENCE: CONNOR RILEY-LOWE
Connor Riley-Lowe started his career with League Two side Exeter City, where he came through the club’s academy before signing his first professional contract with the Grecians in 2014.
He ended up making 14 first-team appearances for the club, in between having two highly successful loan spells in Cornwall with Truro.
Following his release from the Devon side, he was quickly snapped up by the Tinners on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017.
He then starred across two campaigns and was named Player of the Year on both occasions, before deciding to leave to join Bath City in 2019.
Riley-Lowe returned to City after a year away following his release from the Somerset side in 2020.
He was named Player of the Year in both 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, whilst further endearing himself to the City faithful by scoring the winning goal in the famous play-off final win over Bracknell Town.
And last season, Riley-Lowe etched another chapter into his Truro City career, by lifting the National League South title as the Tinners’ captain.
MIDFIELD: WILL DEAN
Will Dean joined the club on a permanent basis in 2021 after his release from Exeter City.
He progressed through the Grecians’ academy set-up and had his first taste of senior football with City, on loan, during the 2019-20 campaign.
Despite that term being cut short by the covid-19 pandemic, Dean was voted Players’ Player of the Year.
Returning to Exeter, Dean made his senior debut for the Devonians in a 2-2 draw with Salford City in September 2020. More loan experience followed that season when Dean, who was born in Hedge End, made a temporary switch to Bath City.
And then, at the conclusion of 20-21, Dean left Exeter and joined Truro, where he has been a mainstay of the Tinners’ side ever since.
Playing as both a midfielder and defender last season, Dean was a consistent presence in the team, iconically featuring in the title clincher against St Albans City, complete with a white head band after suffering a head gash in the season’s penultimate fixture at Weston-super-Mare.
ATTACK: LUKE JEPHCOTT
Joining the Argyle academy, Jephcott made his first team debut for the Pilgrims as a teenager during the 2018-19 campaign.
The following season, he joined Truro on loan, netting eight goals in 18 appearances at Step Three before being recalled and thrust straight back into the first team.
His goals helped Argyle win promotion during 2019-20, a season aborted due to the covid-19 pandemic.
In two subsequent years, Jephcott hit double figures in League One, whilst gaining Wales under-21 honours.
He left Home Park in the summer of 2023 and has subsequently served Swindon Town, St Johnstone and Newport County.
In February 2025, Jephcott rejoined Truro City on loan until the end of the current term, with this move made permanent when his contract was not renewed by the Exiles.
