AFC Totton AFC Totton Enterprise National League

By Josh Cole

AFC Totton were humbled in Sussex losing to a very classy and good Worthing side.

Coming into this one, Worthing had won all five of their last five league games, with Totton losing their last to Ebbsfleet.

The first half was dominated by Worthing possession with Totton sitting off and asking the home side to come and break us down.

And the plan worked until the 40th minute when a bit of fortune fell the way of The Rebels and they took the lead.

Teddy Jenks fired a long range shot low towards the goal and Matt Hall saved the ball into the path of Brad Dolaghan and he lifted the ball back over the stricken Hall and into the net.

Just under two minuets into the added time of the first half, Totton did have a golden chance and it was the first real passing move of the game from The Stags.

They moved it from back to front and Craig Tanner incisively passed through Worthing’s and into their box to find Ash Clarke but the ball got stuck under his feet so as he was about to shoot, in came a superb recovery challenge from Toby Byron.

Worthing doubled their lead just two minutes into the second half, and it was once again, Jenks and Dolaghan at the forefront.

Jenks slipped in Dolaghan down the left flank, and he advanced into the box, poked the ball in and past Hall at the near post.

Four needed changes came for Totton on the 65th minute to try and put some pressure on Worthing because it was looking all too comfortable for the home side.

The changes added a little bit of spark in the next ensuing minutes but the home side just managed to wrestle back control of the game.

Razzaq Coleman De-Graft had been kept quiet up until the 77th minute when he struck to score.

Worthing hit The Stags on a counter and De-Graft chopped onto his left foot on the edge of the box and curled one for the far corner, Hall, who was on the edge of his six-yard box got a hand to the shot and tipped it in the air where it bounced on the line and went in.

Dolaghan had the chance for his hat-trick in the 84th minute as The Rebels won a penalty.

It was a hopeful switch of play which Ryan Jackson lost sight of and misjudged the bounce, George Cox kept the ball alive down the left and tried to play the ball into the box.

It was cut out by Tony Lee, but he couldn’t clear his lines, Burgess nipped in and won the penalty.

Dolaghan stepped up and smashed the ball into the bottom left corner for 4-0.
