AFC Totton have strengthened their ranks with the loan signing of Woody Angell from Aldershot Town, as part of the deal that took Jordan Ngalo in the opposite direction.
Woody is a robust, hard-working midfielder who came through the academy at the Recreation Ground to make his senior debut in a Hampshire Senior Cup match against Farnborough. And he made his bow in the Vanarama National League shortly after, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-1 win over Grimsby Town.
After a short spell at Salisbury, the 19-year-old joined AFC Totton in time to be included in the squad for the goalless draw with Barnstaple Town at the Snows Stadium on Saturday 12 February, before making a goalscoring debut in the Southampton Senior Cup rout over Hedge End Town on Tuesday night.
Head Coach Dan Sackman is pleased with what he’s seen from the 6’2” midfielder:
“He’s been training with us for a couple of weeks and I’ve really liked what I’ve seen. He’s a different type of player to those we already have – he carries the ball well and has been growing in confidence since he arrived. He did well in the Hedge End match and I think his goal helped him to settle into the game. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him.”
Woody arrives at the Snows Stadium at an important juncture in the season and will look to play his part in the end of season run-in, as the Stags fight hard for promotion.
